Itinerary
A covered pick up truck will transfer you to a beautiful and unique Chedi located in a quiet area south of Chiang Mai. After a short safety briefing, we explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam before we begin our journey south. It's pleasant to ride along the green banks of the Ping River. Set in tranquil woodland surroundings, we arrive at our next stop, a former leper colony. The institute was founded by missionaries over a hundred years ago but operates now as a rehabilitation centre. Following the river further downstream, we ride past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as we weave our way through villages and farmland on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Small country roads lead us to Ban Tawai, a village famous for its woodcarving artisans. After lunch in a local restaurant there is plenty of time to wander and take a closer look at the craftsmanship being exhibited in the workshops. Our covered pick up truck will transfer you back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
