Q: What should we wear on a trip?
A: Suitable clothes are shorts and firm footwear, while loose fitting dresses or flip-flops are inappropriate. We provide a light poncho during the rainy season.
Q: Should I wear a helmet?
A: Your safety is a top priority to us. We advise our guests to wear a helmet at all times during the cycling part of the trip. The use of our helmets is included in our tour prices.
Q: Do you rent bicycles?
A: We are sorry, but we do not provide bicycle rental service.

Q: Where is your office?

Q: Can I bring my own bike?
A: The use of a bike is included in all our tour prices, however you are allowed to bring your own bike, but it will not have an effect on the overall cost of the tour. Due to the diverse range of bikes and components available around the world we cannot guarantee parts will be available for all makes and models in Thailand. If in doubt you should bring your own spares and ensure your bike is fully maintained prior to departure.
Q: Should I tip and how much?
A: In general, tipping in Thailand has become a custom. How much you should give is totally up to you. However 50 Baht for a half-day tour or 100 Baht for a full-day tour per person is a good minimum indication.
Q: What do you mean with back-up?
A: The guide can call the base for a support vehicle when necessary. As the company is Chiang Mai based, we have extensive local knowledge and support facilities.
Q: What is included in the tour?
A: Each individual tour will have certain inclusions. Details can be found at each tour description.
Q: Do I need travel insurance? Does ChiangMaiCycling.com provide insurance?
A: Yes, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance before you leave your country of residence; however ChiangMaiCycling.com has its own (local) accident insurance. For more information, please read our Disclaimer.
Q: I'm not a good cyclist. Can I join your tours?
A: Our tours have been designed to allow the general public to enjoy this pleasant leisure activity. Our goal is to offer a wonderful experience using the ecologically sound bicycle, not to create fitness wonders. Each tour is graded to give you an indication of the fitness level required. This will make your choice easier.
Q: Do you cycle in the hot season?
A: Certainly! Cycling is a pleasant cooling option during the hot season. Tours can start a little earlier in the morning as temperatures are lower, and more water stops will be included. We do not recommend afternoon cycling trips.
Q: Do you cycle in the rainy season?
A: The rainy season offers quite a few advantages. The relatively high humidity cools the body and the clouds form a natural shade against the sun. We may adjust our tours to avoid muddy paths and obviously, if a sudden rain shower were to occur, nearby cover will be sought. We provide our guests with a poncho and all the bikes will be equipped with mudguards.
Q: Can you provide vegetarian or other specific meals?
A: Vegetarian meals are no problem. If you have a specific diet or any food restrictions, please contact us for any special requirements and we will gladly make the necessary culinary arrangements (if possible).
Q: Do you also operate mountain bike tours?
A: Northern Thailand is actually a mountain bike paradise. However we do not operate mountain bike tours anymore. It is a very specialized niche market that demands a high standard of safety measures and back up as the risk of an accident is higher than with a leisure cycling tour. Unlike other western mountain bike areas Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand do not have any serious back up in case of emergencies to evacuate people from mountains or remote areas.
Q: Do you also operate road bike tours?
A: We do not have any road bikes available. Our company specializes in leisure cycling. We recommend Swissbike for road bike cycling
Q: Can you customize tours?
A: Yes, we have experience in offering customized tours for small or large groups. This includes tours adapted for cyclists of different fitness levels or interests.

A: We can not allow the use of GPS during our tours. For many years, we have worked very hard to set-up these tours. We can not allow that this information is put online or shared with others.
